Debra M Simon, CPA, MST

Debra Simon, a dedicated tax professional and business consultant, is the founder of DMSimon CPA LLC.  With over 50 years of extensive financial experience, Debra has managed her practice since 1989, applying knowledge and techniques derived through a career including major CPA firms, multinational banking, and adjunct CFO and consulting for closely held commercial firms.  The focus of the practice is the symbiotic relationship that exists between individuals, their closely-held entities, the extensive tax and business issues, and all structure and planning that support the separate and combined goals. Debra’s extensive hands-on experience is rare for professionals today.  Many clients have multinational involvement and in the last 20 years, she has helped many clients through very difficult international issues and is often engaged by law firms and other CPA firms for assistance with their clients. 

Faculty positions included New York University, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Rockland Community College. Debra was a frequent lecturer for professional associations and business groups broadly across the USA and internationally. Sponsors included the AICPA, IBA, many state CPA societies and industry groups, mainly offering tax law updates for other CPAs, attorneys and clients.

As a leader, roles within the NJCPA included the Professional Conduct Committee, the Tax Resource Group Chairperson, a Trustee, and chairing the Multistate Taxation Committee, State Taxation Committee, and Estate Tax Committees. Within the NYSSCPA, she is also recognized for her years of contributions. Debra is still an active, recognized and contributing member of NJSCA, NYSSCPA, and AICPA, 

Debra served on many Boards outside the CPA community including Literacy Volunteers of America – North Jersey, YWCA, and FWA of NY.

Debra’s tax articles have been published in The CPA Journal, The NJ CPA, “Tax Mailbag” of The Record, and other professional publications.  Her financial insight and tax advice have been quoted in The Wall Street Journal and The Star Ledger. Debra is a licensed CPA in NJ and NY and holds a Master of Science in Taxation.
